The Government of India has launched a new scheme to boost beverage exports. The scheme focuses on enhancing the global competitiveness of Indian beverages such as tea, coffee, fruit juices, traditional drinks, and health-oriented beverages. This initiative is part of the broader strategy to diversify India’s export basket and capitalize on growing global demand for premium, organic, and value-added beverage products.

The scheme includes financial incentives, infrastructure support, and market development assistance for beverage manufacturers and exporters. Key highlights include export subsidies, quality certification support, and help in international trade fairs and exhibitions to promote Indian beverages globally. A special emphasis has been placed on traditional beverages like neera, coconut water, and herbal drinks, which align with the rising demand for healthy and natural alternatives in international markets.

To strengthen supply chains and processing capabilities, the scheme focuses on developing state-of-the-art beverage processing facilities and establishing dedicated clusters in regions known for beverage production, such as Assam for tea, Karnataka for coffee, and Maharashtra for fruit juices. Additionally, research and development (R&D) initiatives will drive innovation in beverage formulations, packaging, and sustainability to meet international quality standards and environmental regulations.

The government has also partnered with export promotion councils, such as the Tea Board, Coffee Board, and APEDA, to streamline export documentation, reduce barriers, and provide exporters access to global markets. Further, efforts are being made to strengthen cold chain logistics to ensure beverage quality during transit, especially for perishable and organic products.

The scheme is expected to create new opportunities for farmers, manufacturers, and small-scale beverage producers, driving rural employment and improving farm incomes. With this initiative, the government aims to position India as a global leader in beverage exports, leveraging the country’s diverse agricultural resources and rich beverage heritage to tap into international markets and increase the share of Indian beverages in the global export portfolio.
