The National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) is set to establish a Hi-Tech Dairy Plant in Tamil Nadu, a move aimed at bolstering the state’s dairy production and processing capacity. This initiative aligns with NDDB’s mission to modernize the dairy sector, improve milk production, and ensure better income opportunities for farmers. The hi-tech plant will incorporate state-of-the-art technologies for milk processing, storage, and value-added product manufacturing, such as butter, cheese, yogurt, and milk powders, catering to both domestic and export markets.

Tamil Nadu, already one of India’s key milk-producing states, will benefit significantly from this project as it is expected to enhance the efficiency of milk procurement, reduce wastage, and maintain the highest standards of hygiene and quality. The plant will also integrate automation, energy-efficient systems, and sustainable practices, such as waste-to-energy solutions and water recycling, aligning with green manufacturing principles. This development is set to empower local dairy farmers, cooperatives, and self-help groups by providing a reliable market and ensuring fair pricing.

Moreover, the hi-tech plant will help strengthen the state’s supply chain, enabling Tamil Nadu to meet the growing demand for dairy products in urban centers while supporting initiatives like Atmanirbhar Bharat. By utilizing advanced technologies, the plant will play a key role in transforming the dairy industry, enhancing rural livelihoods, and making Tamil Nadu a dairy innovation hub in the years to come.
